Description
No. 325 on Church Lane is a house that was originally a pair of almshouses. It features a circular plaque that reads "J.H, 1762, restored S.H.W. 1928," which refers to John Howard and Samuel Howard Whitbread. The building has a colour-washed roughcast exterior over a timber frame, resting on a high red brick plinth, and is topped with an old clay tile roof. Each of the two cottages has a one-room plan and stands two storeys tall. There are two three-light casements with leaded lights on each floor, and two plank doors with moulded surrounds positioned in the center. A red brick double ridge stack is present, and there are 18th-century wrought iron railings and a gate leading to the front garden, similar to those found at Howard's house.
