Description
The Bedford Arms is an 18th century house located on Oakley High Street, featuring a range of attached outbuildings and a 19th century rear extension. The main house and outbuildings are constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with the main building topped by an old clay tile roof while the outbuildings have Welsh slate roofs. The main house is two storeys high with attics. The north elevation includes a first-floor two-light horizontal sash window with glazing bars, two pointed arched windows on the ground floor, and one three-light casement window, all featuring glazing bars. There are attic windows in the gable ends. The rear extension is a two-storey structure made of colourwashed brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof and featuring modillion brick eaves, with a two-light casement window on each storey. A 20th century gabled brick porch is also present. At the west end, there is a one-storey slightly recessed stone wing with two front casements that have glazing bars. To the rear, there is a range of one-storey outbuildings with a slate roof, including a taller barn at the end set at right angles.
