Description
No. 198 is a house that was originally a barn, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with some alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with the front and east elevations rendered to resemble ashlar joints, and it has a thatched roof. There are small central and two gable end brick stacks. The house is two storeys high.
The front elevation features four 19th-century three-light windows with transoms and leaded panes on the first floor, and three similar windows on the ground floor. The front door, also in the 19th-century style, has four panels and is topped by a flat hood supported by moulded brackets, with a single full-width two-light narrow rectangular fanlight above. To the right side, there is a lean-to roof covered with old clay tiles. The rear wing, located behind the right side, was the former barn and is built of limestone with clay roof tiles, consisting of one storey and attics.
