Description
The Church of St Michael and All Saints is a small church dating from the late 12th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with Northamptonshire ironstone dressings. The building features a chancel and an aisleless nave, with a west tower incorporated into the western bay of the nave. Both the chancel and nave have shallow-pitched roofs. Most of the windows are from the 14th century, with a 15th-century window located in the south wall of the nave to the east of the doorway, and a remodelled 15th-century window at the east end. The south doorway is a notable example of late 12th-century work, featuring three orders of shafts with stiff leaf capitals and three orders of arches made from alternating limestone and sandstone blocks. There is also a small plain north doorway from the 12th century, which is currently blocked. Inside the chancel, there are traces of wall painting.
