Description

South Brook Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with a 19th-century addition. It features a timber frame with colour washed plaster infill and a red brick bay on the east side. The roof is thatched. The building has a four-room plan, including the later bay, and is two storeys high. The original section has two 2-light casement windows and one 3-light casement window on the ground floor, as well as two 2-light casements on the first floor, all with glazing bars. The brick bay has a 2-light casement window under a cambered head on each floor. There is a 20th-century hipped thatched porch aligned with the red brick double ridge stack. Red brick stacks are located at both gable ends, with one external to the west and the other integral to the east.
