Description
The Tythe Barn is a barn and stables located about 20 metres west of the Old Rectory in Broome. It dates from the late 17th century, with an early 19th-century extension and some mid-19th-century alterations. The structure features a timber frame with brick infill set on a sandstone plinth, and it has brick and tile roofs. The building has an L-plan layout, with the limb extending to the south from the 17th century and the eastern limb added in the 19th century. The 17th-century range consists of four bays, which is blind on the east front, and includes a garage entrance in the north gable. The framing consists of two rectangular panels high with straight tension braces. The 19th-century range has a full-height cart entrance on the left side of the south front, while the stables on the right include two windows and a stable entrance in between.
