Description
7 and 8 New Street are offices that were formerly houses, built around 1800. The buildings feature Flemish bond brickwork and a hipped Welsh slate roof. They are three stories tall and consist of three bays. The entrance is located in a projecting porch with sidelights to the right, supported by Doric columns and topped with an entablature. The ground-floor windows are tripartite sashes, while the first-floor windows are 16-pane sashes with flat arched gauged brick heads. The attic storey has 8-pane windows. There are axial stacks towards the rear of the roof.
To the left, there is a late 19th-century extension that matches the original brickwork. This two-story, two-bay extension has 2-pane sash windows with flat-arched gauged brick heads and features two canted bay windows on the west elevation. It also has a sill band and a red and yellow dentilled eaves cornice. To the right, there is another extension from around 1900, which is also two stories tall and has sash windows and a hipped roof.
