Description

A barn, cow house, and likely stables, now used as a garage, barn, and granary, dating to the mid-17th century with a mid-18th-century extension and alterations in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a roof of machine tiles and old tiles. It has a T-shaped plan, with the original section extending south. The west front features a gabled cross-wing to the left, two storeys high, and a section to the right, also two storeys high. The earliest part of this right section is quoined with a lighter coloured sandstone, with a straight joint where it meets the later part. The left wing has a loft door above two two-light casement windows flanking a garage door. A central large barn door is present. The 17th-century section to the right has two loft doors. The ground floor has two entrances with four-centred heads, keystones, and impost blocks, and is flanked by two oval windows. A centrally placed tablet displays a much eroded armorial bearing, reportedly belonging to the Herbert family. Home Farmhouse is not included in the listing.
