Description

The Richard Baxter Monument is a structure dating from around 1850, located on a hilltop at Blakeshall Common. It is made of red and purple fired bricks, featuring a stone string and base. The monument has a pedestal with a moulded base and cornice, and each side has a rendered panel, with the north side displaying an inserted stone inscription tablet. Above the pedestal stands a tall brick obelisk, which has a bullnose string at its base.

Richard Baxter, the Presbyterian divine, lived in Kidderminster from 1641 until he left in 1661.
