Description
The remains of the west wall of the north transept of the Abbey date from the 12th to 13th century. These fragments of stone wall are located next to the modern Mountfort Cross, which is not situated where the High Altar once stood. This structure is part of a group that includes the Public Library, Nos 6 and 6A, Nos 7 and 8, Walker Hall, Abbot Reginald's Gateway, The Old Vicarage, Church of St Lawrence, Church of All Saints, The Bell Tower, Abbot Reginald's Wall, the Porter's Lodge, the remains of the Abbey Gate, the gate and railings of No 53, the remains of the Abbey Stables, The Almonry, and The Stocks, all located around Merstow Green.
