Description
Abbot Reginald's Wall and the Porter's Lodge are substantial and restored remains of a medieval stone wall. The wall incorporates a small chamber on the north side, which is said to have been the Porter's Lodge. This structure is part of a group that includes the Church of All Saints, the Church of St Lawrence, the Bell Tower, the remains of the west wall of the North Transept of the Abbey, the archway to the south of these remains, Abbot Reginald's Gateway, the Old Vicarage, the Public Library, and several other properties on Market Place, including Nos 6 and 6A, Nos 7 and 8, and Walker Hall. These buildings collectively form a significant historical group alongside the remains of the Abbey Gate, the gate and railings of No 53, the remains of the Abbey Stables, the Almonry, the Stocks, and other structures on Merstow Green, as well as Nos 4 and 5 Abbey Gate and the remains of the south wall of the Abbey Precinct on Little Abbey Lane.
