Description

This tomb chest, located approximately 7 metres north of the north doorway of the Church of St Eadburgha, is likely from the late 17th century. It is made of limestone and features a top slab that is moulded to resemble a cornice. The long sides of the chest are divided by pilaster strips that have carved saltire patterns. The corners are treated in a similar manner, except for the south-east corner, which is adorned with terms. The south side of the chest has a worn Latin inscription, while the east side is decorated with a carved shield of arms.
