Description

These are two buildings on High Street, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, although the original structure likely dates from earlier. The frontages are rendered in stucco. The buildings are two storeys high, with three three-light sash windows on each floor, lacking glazing bars. Number 61 features a painted oval wooden plaque with an insignia and the inscription “Bootmaker by appointment to HRH the late Duc D'Aumale and HRH Duchess D'Aosta.” The roofs are slate-covered. Later 19th-century and modern shop fronts have been added. These buildings are grouped with numbers 45 to 51 (odd), railings and lamp standards of number 51, and numbers 55 to 69 (odd).
