Description
Knap House is a house dating from around 1900, possibly designed by Prentice. It is constructed of squared limestone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys, with windows that are rebated and chamfered, incorporating mullions. On the left side, there is a single bay with 2-light windows. To the right, there is a canted bay window that includes four lights with a transom at the front and two lights on each side, topped with a dentilled cornice beneath a parapet with coping. Above this bay, under a gable, are two 3-light windows with transoms and a carved initial "W". Set back on the right is a first-floor link to East House, which features a double-chamfered two-centred archway on the ground floor and a 4-light window above. Knap House was formed from extensions to Top Farmhouse, which was acquired by Mr. Wells, the inventor of Quaker Oats, around 1900. The house has since been subdivided.
