Description

The White House and The Mede is a house consisting of two parts, dating from the 17th century with later alterations and additions. It features square-panel timber-framing with some small braces, painted brick nogging, and a part-rendered plinth. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has three full dormers. There are brick stacks located at the center of the ridge and on the cross-wing ridge, as well as two external stacks with tiled offsets on the left side of the wing and another stack at the rear.

The building is a single storey with an attic. The main range has three bays and includes a later timber-framed outshut across the front, a cross-wing that projects on the left, and a lower one-bay brick extension on the right. The main range features small-pane casements with inserted angled wooden dripmoulds and sills, along with two three-light and one two-light casement dormer windows. There is a larger casement window in the dormer of the right-hand extension. The cross-wing on the left has a three-light leaded window with a central casement on the first floor, and on the ground floor, there is a canted bay window with sashes arranged in a 4/4:8/8:4/4 pattern, with the bottom row of panes boarded in and a flat lead roof. Access includes a door on the left return of the front outshut (The White House) and another in the gabled porch of the right-hand extension (The Mede). The building has iron ties. The interior has not been inspected.
