Description
Potter's Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, likely from the mid-1600s, that has been altered over time. It features square-panel timber framing with a combination of part-rendered and part-painted brick nogging on a stone plinth. The left bay has been rebuilt in brick but still has a timber-framed gable end. The roof is covered with plain old tiles and includes two full dormers. There are brick stacks, with a double stack to the left of center and an external stack positioned forward of the ridge on the right.
The building has a former baffle-entry plan, with a central rear timber-framed wing and a later brick wing added to the rear right. It is a single-storey structure with an attic and consists of three bays. The main frontage features a near-central plank door within the framing, which is now unused, along with a small inserted window to the left. Further left, there is a three-light window set below a segmental arch, and on the right, there are two metal casement windows. The dormers also have three-light casements, and there is an infilled segmental-arched doorway at the left end. The current entrance is located in the brick wing.
Inside, there is a back-to-back fireplace and exposed timber framing, including ceiling beams, joists, and the partition framework of the right-hand bay.
