Description
This group of five tomb chests is located between approximately one and nine metres northeast of the chancel of the Church of St Eadburgha. They date from around 1700 to the early 19th century and are made of limestone. Each tomb chest features a moulded flat top and panelled sides. The southwestern tomb has worn inscriptions, including the date "1716" on one end. The northern tomb has panels separated by pilasters with crude Ionic volutes and possibly includes the date "1720". There are three closely arranged tombs between these two. The southwestern tomb among them has an inscription for Thomas Austin, who died in 1684. The northeastern tomb features the date "1694", while the northwestern tomb has two arched panels at the west end and includes the date "1820".
