Description
No 23 on New Street is a house that may date back to the 15th century, with alterations from the 17th and 20th centuries. It features roughcast timber-framing and limestone, topped with a stone slate roof. The main part of the house is one storey with an attic, while there is a two-storey jettied cross-wing on the right side. The main range has a three-light window on the ground floor that is rebated and hollow-chamfered, with an attic dormer above. The cross-wing includes a 20th-century casement window on both floors. Between the cross-wing and the main range, there is a lean-to stone porch with an outer doorway that has an elliptical head. There are chimneys located to the left of the cross-wing and at the left side of the main range. The right-hand wall of the cross-wing is made of stone on the ground floor and is close-studded with a middle rail on the first floor.
