Description

Austin House is a house dating to circa 1700. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a stone slate roof. The building is a symmetrical design, two storeys high with an attic and five bays. The windows are boxed sash windows with glazing bars and flat arches. A string course runs above the ground floor windows. Three gabled attic dormers have casement windows with leaded glazing. The front door, approached by stone steps, is a six-panel door with a transom light. The gables are coped, and there are gable chimneys; the right-hand chimney has a projecting stack. A rear wing, facing south, features sash windows with glazing bars, and a two-storey, mid-19th century bow window with strapwork carving is situated on the left side. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey in December 1986.
