Description

Nos 4 and 4A on High Street are mid-18th century buildings made of painted brick. They stand two storeys tall with attics and feature five late 18th century sash windows set in painted reveals, each with original keyblocks, and the central window is enriched. The buildings have 19th century shop fronts that include deep moulded wooden cornices above. The eaves are adorned with brick modillions, and the roof is covered with old tiles. These buildings, along with others on the south side from Nos 2 to 24, create a cohesive and attractive group.
