Description
The Quarrell memorial and railed enclosure, located about 35 yards south of the Church of St Michael, is a pedestal tomb with railings dating from around 1835. The tomb is made of ashlar and has a roughly cube shape with corner rebates, a moulded plinth and cornice, and a pyramidal capping. The inscription panels are moulded at the edges, with the south panel commemorating Joseph Quarrell, who died in 1832, and his daughter, Elizabeth, who died in 1833. Surrounding the tomb are cast iron railings that feature spear-headed designs, with corner and central side standards topped by gadrooned urns.
