Terraced house, formerly 2 houses, now forms part of residential accommodation for the King's School. C16 extended and remodelled early C19 with later additions and alterations, right-hand wing possibly re-fronted 1836-75, rear range older with some remnants of timber-framing to rear (east) gables overlooking Castle Place. Painted brick with plain clay tile roof, roughcast gable to right; brick stacks have oversailing detail and pots. Stone sills. Timber doorcase. PLAN: formerly 2 buildings, that to right (of C16) is gable-end-on to the Green. Both have rear ranges, those to right are extensive. The elevation is composed of 2 elements and is described as such: Left-front: continuation of No.2 (qv) although breaks forward slightly. 3 storeys. 2 first-floor windows, paired side-hung 3-pane casements in plain reveals with sills and cambered heads. Similar openings to ground-floor with transom-light over 4-pane fixed window. Second-floor window is 6/6 sash in plain reveals with sill. Right-front: 2 storeys and attics. 3 first-floor windows. Stucco details include moulded sill band and moulded cornice to heads of attic windows; similar cornice mould above cambered heads to ground-floor windows. All windows 6/6 sashes in plain reveals, cambered heads, except attic which are 6/1 with square head. 2 stone steps to entrance at left, 6-panel door, all raised and fielded; square leaded-light glazing to overlight and sidelight; doorcase with fluted pilasters, pulvinated frieze and cornice. INTERIOR: polychromatic ceramic floor tiles to hall; early C19 joinery includes panelled doors in moulded architraves; early C19 dog-leg stairs with stick balusters and turned newels, with mid C18 panelled dado to stair hall; early C19 panelled cupboards to ground-floor right. The C16 right-hand range has cased beams and 4-bay collar-truss roof with straight corner bracing and trenched purlins. All the listed buildings in College Green are part of a significant group forming the setting for Worcester Cathedral (qv) to the south side. The rear boundary wall to Nos. 2-6 College Green is part of the Monastic Precinct Wall (Scheduled Ancient Monument).
