Description

Yew Tree House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, as well as painted brick refacing and additions, topped with a machine- and plain-tiled roof. The structure has two framed bays aligned east to west and includes a large external sandstone chimney with two star-shaped stacks located at the rear of the west bay.

The house is two storeys high and has dentilled and cogged eaves cornices. The framing includes four panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. The east gable end has a collar and tie-beam truss featuring two collars, four struts to the lower collar, and two struts to the upper collar.

On the south front elevation, the ground floor has a two-light and a three-light casement window with plank weatherings, while the first floor features two three-light casements. The main entrance, located in the west bay, has a ledged and battened door. A 19th-century addition at the west gable end continues the main roof ridge and includes an outshut with a catslide roof at the front. This outshut has two blind windows with cambered heads and a small square window at the angle with the main part of the house.

The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the building served as a public house during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
