Description
South Lodge is a late 18th-century building that served as a lodge for Hanley Court and has since been converted into a house. It has undergone alterations and additions in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. The structure is made of rendered brick and features a slate roof with an octagonal plan and two storeys. The north and south sides each have a large pointed window with Y-tracery and a hood mould above, along with a circular window that has radiating glazing bars. The main entrance is located on the east side and includes a hooded canopy supported by moulded brackets, leading to a 20th-century door. A large 20th-century addition is attached to the north-west side, which is said to replace a former 19th-century addition. The Lodge is positioned at the end of the original main entrance drive to Hanley Court.
