Description
The granary and hop kilns, dating from the 18th century and mid-19th century, are located adjoining The Grove to the south-west. The structure features a combination of timber framing with brick and rendered infill on a brick base, as well as sections that are entirely brick, topped with plain tiled roofs. The granary consists of three bays and two levels. Its framing includes four panels from the sill to the wall-plate on the north side and two panels at the upper floor level on the south side, with a collar and tie-beam truss featuring two collars and struts at the east end. The south elevation is open at ground floor level, creating a cart store, while the upper floor is supported on brick piers and includes a square opening at the upper floor level. A 20th-century gabled roofed passageway connects the granary to The Grove, featuring a door in its south elevation. The hop kilns are located at the west end, consisting of two square kilns that form a rectangular plan and also have two levels. The south elevations of the kilns include a square opening at ground floor level and both square and rectangular openings at the upper floor level.
