Description
Firlands Cottage is a house dating from the 16th to 17th century, constructed with a timber frame and plastered brick. It features a gabled roof covered with plain tiles and a central brick ridge stack. The east end bay is lower and has a half-hipped gable. The house is arranged in three bays and includes queen post tie-beam and collar trusses. There is a central former open hall that has been modified with a later floor and chimney. The roof in the central and west end bays is supported by wind-bracing. The east bay and half-hipped end bay are open to the roofs, which were previously used for stabling. On the north side, the roof extends down as an outshot and includes two small dormers. The cottage has casement windows throughout.
