Description
Upper Woodfield Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the mid-18th century, although it contains earlier elements. It is built of brick and has a tile roof. The left-hand (western) section is a single storey with an attic and features three casement windows with segmental heads, along with two attic dormers. To the right, beyond a straight joint, there is a fourth dormer above a slate canopy that covers a doorway with a segmental head. The right side of the building has a cross-wing that is two storeys high, with an attic and cellar. This section has one bay and displays three storey bands. The windows in this part are also casements with segmental heads, and the cellar doorway has a similar design. There are chimneys located to the left of the main doorway and on the right-hand wall of the cross-wing. The interior was not accessible during the survey in September 1986, but it is reported that the western range contains concealed timber-frame elements, exposed ceiling beams, and an inglenook.
