Description

The Coachman’s Cottage and Stable Cottage are a mid-19th century lodge built to serve The Terrace. Constructed of weatherboarded brick with a shallow-pitched slate roof, the building is designed to resemble a Swiss chalet. The main roof runs east to west, with a gabled wing projecting from the centre of the north facade. The weatherboarding overlaps, featuring a decorative band of boards between the ground and first floors. The prominent gables are supported by shaped brackets and have bargeboards. Each gable contains a three-light mullioned window; the ground floor windows are transomed. A 20th-century single-storey porch covers the east gable. To the left of the wing on the north facade is a single bay with casement windows. To the right is a doorway accessed by wooden steps. Exposed brickwork is visible on the north wall.
