Description
This early 18th-century house, now part of a hotel, is located on the east side of Hanley Castle. It is a double-depth plan building constructed of brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a hipped tile roof. The house has two storeys and an attic, arranged over five bays. Windows are topped with segmental brick arches; some retain their original timber mullion and transom construction, while most have been replaced with 20th-century casements. Three hipped dormers light the attic. A brick dentil course runs along the eaves. The central bay features a doorway with a transom light and a timber hood supported by brackets. A lead downspout to the right of the doorway is fitted with a hopper resting on brick corbels. Chimneys are positioned behind the ridge, one to the left and one to the right.
