Description
Ahimsa is a house that likely dates back to around 1600, with some elements from the 15th century. It features timber-framing with brick infill and a tile roof. The structure includes a cross-wing and the remains of a cruck hall that has been truncated. The house is two storeys high, with 20th-century casement windows. The front gable of the wing has one window on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Inside, the tie-beam is interrupted, and there are V-struts above the collar. The left-hand (east) wall of the wing is framed in square panels, while the rear gable wall includes a tie-beam, collar, and vertical struts. The west wall of the truncated hall range displays exposed cruck blades, a tie-beam, and a collar that is interrupted by a first-floor window, with the blades truncated at an upper collar. There is a doorway to the right of the ground floor window. Some ceiling beams are exposed in the interior, but no further cruck trusses are visible.
