Description

Cobley Hill Cottage is an early 17th-century house, restored in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill, set on a sandstone plinth, and has a machine-tile roof. The house is arranged in a T-shape, with the main front range running north/south and another range extending to the west. A lateral stack is located on the north side of the rear range, featuring three diamond-plan brick shafts.

The east front has two storeys and two windows on the left, with a three-light casement, and two windows on the right, with a two-light casement. The ground floor has a pair of two-light casements to the left, and a gabled tiled canopy over the entrance to the right, with a half-glazed door supported by two brick piers. The timber frame is close-studded with straight angle braces. The gable-end trusses have three vertical and two raking struts to the collar. Internally, there are exposed beams, chamfered and stopped.
