Description
Gaunts is a farmhouse built in 1659 for Nicholas Dunn, with some alterations and extensions made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The structure features a timber frame with brick infill and a tiled roof, designed in a T-plan with a cross-wing aligned north to south, and an additional range extending to the west. At the junction of the wings, there is a chimney stack with four engaged brick shafts.
The street front, which faces south, has a two-storey cross-wing on the right that includes a gable-lit attic and two windows: a square oriel window on the left and a canted oriel window on the right. On the ground floor, there are two canted oriel windows. The lintel of a blocked door bears the inscription "N 1659 D". The entrance is located on the opposite (north) front.
The framing consists of two square panels high with straight tensions over close-studding on the ground floor, while the gable trusses feature two collars and multiple struts.
