Description
Barnt Green House is a large three-storey house dating from around 1602. The majority of the structure features heavy timber framing, although some parts have been extensively restored with imitation timber framing and painted brickwork. The right-hand side of the east elevation showcases twin gable heads with restored geometrical timber framing, heavy moulded bressumers, and console brackets. The ground and first storeys display heavy close-set studding. There is an 18th-century fielded panel door and a facsimile gabled porch. The left side features 19th-century imitation timber framing. At the rear, there is one stone chimney stack with brick shafts, while the other chimneys are modern. A notable original small jettied gabled projection faces the stable yard to the south. The roof is covered with well-weathered machine tiles, and the interior retains some original panelling.
