Description
This building is a barn, stables, and cow house located about 100 metres north of Cofton Hall. It dates from the mid-18th century and was extended in 1796 by George Byfield. The structure is made of brick with a sandstone ashlar facade and features a hipped stone tile roof. The barn is aligned northwest to southeast, with the cow house extending southwest from the northwest corner, and the stable block positioned at right angles to the southeast end.
The southeast front, built by Byfield in ashlar, has a central bay that slightly projects forward and includes a pediment with a circular window, supported by Doric pilasters, above an entrance with a segmental head, keystone, and impost blocks. To the left, there are two storeys with three blind windows featuring wedge lintels above two windows with fixed casements flanking an entrance. On the right side, there is a tall cart entrance. The projecting wing to the right has three blind windows on the first floor of the left return wall, and on the ground floor, there are two entrances flanking a central window.
