Description
Rose Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of plastered brick and features late 19th century applied timber-framing. The roof is tiled and has plastered stacks. The house has a two-unit plan with a rear wing and stands two storeys high, with a four-window range. The windows are 20th century casements with leaded glazing. The entrance is located to the left of the centre and features a plank door. There is a squat stack at the rear of the roof ridge, and an exposed brick section is dated 1671. The right side of the house has a hipped projection, likely for a large fireplace that has been blocked, along with a projecting end stack. The rear is similar, with an entrance leading to the gabled rear wing. Inside, the room to the right has chamfered beams and exposed joists, while the room to the left contains a large blocked fireplace. The first floor features a timber-framed cross wall with wind braces, and the right end has a timber-framed gable and another blocked fireplace.
