Description
This is a terrace of 12 houses, dating from around 1830, located on Compton Road, Wolverhampton. The houses are constructed of stucco with slate roofs. They form a three-storey block of 14 windows, with a four-window section in the centre that slightly projects and is taller. The ground floor features channelled rustication, a sill course runs along the first floor, and a top frieze with wide eaves are present. The central section has modillioned eaves with stops. The windows are mostly sash windows, with 12 panes. The first floor windows in the centre are architraved, while other windows have enriched cast iron balconies. The second floor windows in the centre have Greek-style incised decoration, and 9-pane sashes; other second-floor windows feature 6-pane sashes. Doorways between the bays incorporate flat pilasters and entablatures, with overlights and 20th-century doors. Entrances are positioned in the 3rd and 12th bays, flanking passageways which have boarded doors. The building features four gable-end stacks and six cross-axial stacks. Plain iron railings and gates are attached to the property.
