Description
56 and 57 Queen Street are two houses that have been converted into offices. They date from the early 19th century and are constructed of brick with stone dressings, featuring a plastered ground floor and a tiled roof. The buildings have a double-depth plan and rise three storeys with a four-window range. There are sill bands on the first and second floors and a cornice at the top. The ground floor has five modern round-headed plate-glass windows. The first-floor windows are adorned with friezes that have oval paterae and consoled cornices, while the sashes on the first and second floors have horns. The entrance, located between the second and third bays, is round-headed and has fielded-panelled reveals, a six-panel door, and a fanlight with glazing bars. It is framed by a Doric aedicule that includes entablature blocks and an open pediment. The interior has not been inspected.
