Description

The Smith Monument, located approximately 5 metres north of the Church of St Leonard in Bilston, is a Grade II listed structure. This monument commemorates Job Smith (died 1822), Daniel Smith (died 1833), Job Hickman Lester (died 1844), and others. It is constructed of ashlar and features a square chest tomb set on a plinth. The tomb is adorned with reeded pilaster strips and a frieze that includes cherubs at the corners. The inscription plaques are fluted with either oval or square shapes that have concave corners, although the front panel is illegible.
