Description
The Lock Street High Level Railway Bridge is a railway underbridge built in 1848, with a widening on the east side around 1870. It is constructed of brick and features riveted cast-iron decking and girders. The abutments on the west elevation curve outwards and are capped with stone. The east elevation is lower due to the slope of the ground and has a 20th-century parapet over a girder, which includes the lettering: "THOMAS PERRY AND SONS HIGHFIELDS FOUNDRY 1848." The decking is supported by jack arches. This bridge is included for its group value.
