Description
Shutt Cross House is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, likely re-fronted around 1800. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond with some painted stone dressings and has a tile roof. The building stands three storeys high and features three bays. The windows are sashed with glazing bars, and those on the ground and first floors have lintels with stepped false chamfered voussoirs. In the middle bay, there is a doorcase with engaged Tuscan columns, paterae, and an open pediment, while the fanlight includes iron glazing. The south wall of a rear wing has windows with segmental brick heads and an oak door of early to mid-18th century design, which combines plank and panel construction. The west and south walls of the front range each have two brick string courses. Inside, the rear wing has two exposed stop-chamfered axial beams, an open-well stair with an open string, oak treads, turned balusters, and a wreathed handrail.
