Description
The barn located south-west of Bosty Lane Farmhouse is likely from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a tile roof. The north wall includes a two-storey porch with an exposed hardwood truss in the gable, which has a king-post and straight braces supporting the principals. On either side of the porch, there are single-storey lean-tos attached to the front wall of the barn. The south wall contains breathers and a cart entrance with a segmental arch made of blue brick voussoirs. To the left of the entrance, there is a first-floor pitching door. Inside, the roof is supported by brick cross-walls with central openings on either side of the entrances. Although the roof was not fully visible during the survey in September 1985, it appears to have hardwood purlins. The truss visible in the western part of the barn resembles the one in the porch gable and includes at least one curved wind-brace.
