Description

The Hawthorns Public House, located at the junction of Birmingham Road and Halfords Lane, is a house that has been converted into a public house. It dates from around 1840 and features a stucco exterior with a hipped slate roof. The building has a symmetrical design, comprising two storeys and five bays, with clasping pilasters and giant pilasters that separate the bays, along with an eaves band. The windows are adorned with architraves, and those on the first floor are sash windows with glazing bars. There is a single-storey porch that has been glazed, featuring antae, pilaster responds, and a parapet. The building has chimneys located to the left and right, towards the front of the end walls. The house was rebuilt by Henry Halford, an iron merchant, who resided there from around 1833 to 1846.
