Description
This barn, located approximately 5 metres east of Old Portway Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century and was shortened in the 20th century. It has a timber frame but now features brick walls and a tiled roof. Only the left-hand bay remains intact, while the right-hand side has been altered with a 20th-century monopitch roof that sits below the tie-beam level. The truss between the first and second bays is partially visible above this modern roof and includes a tie-beam, two vertical struts, and a collar. Inside, some of the framing of this truss is exposed, and the wall-posts of a second truss are still present.
