Description
The war memorial is situated to the south of St Giles’ Church in Rowley Regis. It features a stone wheel-head cross with a tapering shaft. A reversed sword is carved in low relief on the front face of the cross. The shaft is set on a tapering plinth, which in turn rests on a base made of two rectangular stone steps, elevated on a rectangular paved slab.
The southern face of the plinth has the main dedicatory inscription incised into the stone, which reads "THE GLORIOUS DEAD 1914 – 1918." Below this inscription, on the top step, is carved "THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE." After the memorial's restoration, the names of the fallen are commemorated on the paved slab surrounding the base of the memorial.
