Description
The Pensnett RSPCA Animal Drinking Trough is a rectangular concrete trough built in 1912 to commemorate the coronation of King George V. It is maintained by the RSPCA. The trough rests on two squared blocks and features low, rounded bollards that protect it from wheeled traffic. The bottom edge of the trough, situated between the blocks, is deeply chamfered, while the ends, which rise from the supporting blocks, are moulded. The east end has a semi-circular projection that once held a small basin for a human drinking fountain, which has since been removed. On the south side of the trough, there is an inscription that reads: "TO COMMEMORATE THE CORONATION OF KING GEORGE V. 1911. / MAINTAINED BY THE STOURBRIDGE, KIDDERMINSTER AND DUDLEY / S.P.C.A."
