Description
Nos 112 to 140 on Cash's Lane, built in 1857, are a terrace of two-storey houses with a third storey known as 'topshops'. These houses were constructed as part of Cash's Model Factory to support the independence of individual workers within the factory system. The terrace consists of four sections, each containing four units, and steps up from east to west. There is a central pointed arched carriageway. The buildings are made of brick and feature a tiled roof with ornamental barge-boards on the central and end gables. Shallow, wide buttresses are positioned between the houses. The pointed arched windows have sash designs on the lower floors, while the top floor features tall windows with mullions and transoms. Boarded doors are located under pointed arches. Originally, individual shops were converted into one large factory in 1862. Nos 52 to 58, 64 to 94, and 112 to 140 Cash's Lane form a group with 251 Kingfield Road.
