Description
Bird Grove House is a Grade II* listed building located at No. 9 George Eliot Road. This house was home to the novelist George Eliot, also known as Mary Ann Evans, from March 1841 to May 1849. The building is constructed of stucco and features a Welsh slated roof. It has two storeys and includes sash windows, with a canted bay facing the road. The main elevation is on the side and has a projecting wing that contains a recessed porch, which is arched and has radiating glazing bars in the fanlight above the door. There is a lower wing on the east side elevation, and some of the windows have glazing bars.
