Description

The statue of the Virgin Mary in front of the tower of Oscott College was created around 1837-1840 by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. It is a fine replica of a late 15th century German statue located in St Chad's. The statue is positioned on a high pedestal and features an impressive canopy designed in the style of the 15th century.
