Description
50 Wake Green Road is a house dating from the early 20th century, constructed of stretcher bond red brick with stone dressings and a plain tiled roof. The house has two storeys and includes an attached, single-storey garage block.
The front of the house has two bays. A projecting, gabled bay is positioned on the left, featuring canted corners and a ground floor canted bay window of four lights. Above this is an oriel of three canted lights, flanked by diamond patterns of stones set flush into the brickwork. The gable is topped with stone copings and kneelers, and contains a lancet window. To the right of the gabled bay is a porch supported by two timber, Ionic columns and a segmental roof with prominent dentals. A small veranda and a canted bay window of four lights are located to the right of the porch. The roof line slopes down to the ground floor over this section of the front, and a gabled dormer window of three lights is set into the first floor, with a dressed brick surround. Attached to the right is a pedestrian entrance with an arched head, and then the prominent garage, which has a round arched entrance with double doors. A polygonal louvered ventilation turret with a domed lead roof and a sceptre finial rises from the garage roof ridge. The rear elevation features a gabled bay with canted corners on the left side, with two sash windows on the first floor. To the right of this is a wide canted bay with French windows on the ground floor, and above this a first-floor canted bay with a flat-headed sash window of seven lights.
The drawing room contains stained glass wreaths in the leaded windows of the canted bay. An inglenook fireplace features similar, smaller windows and a panelled oak surround with inlaid blond wood motifs of swags and ribbons. Another ground floor room also has an inglenook fireplace with panelling to the walls and a panelled plaster and wood ceiling. The kitchen has a fitted dresser with glazed doors to the upper section.
