Description
Dating to around 1909, 25 and 27 St Agnes Road are a pair of semi-detached Arts and Crafts houses designed as a symmetrical composition. The houses are built of light red brick with blue brick headers. The design incorporates a "half H" plan, featuring a two-bay central section and one-and-a-half-storey lean-to porches set back from the front of the gabled wing sections. The gables have plain bargeboards, and the tiled roofs have overhanging eaves that are swept to resemble thatch above the first-floor windows of the central section. Brick chimney stacks are located on the sides of the wings, with a central ridge stack. The ground floor windows in the wings are four-light leaded casements in shallow, flush frames, with diamond brick vents to the left and right. First-floor windows have canted oriels with pargetted aprons supported by large corbel brackets and leaded lights. The central section has a similar emphasis on the first floor, featuring three-light casements. The ground floor of the centre block has two-light casements with thin cornices and relieving arches. The lean-to porches have round-headed doorways with splayed reveals and a thin impost moulding. Small attic lights are positioned above the porches. The sides of the houses have slightly cambered windows.
